Late Nite TV

It is somewhere between Friday and Saturday, and I just can't sleep. Exhausted yet wired, I just decided to make some tea swallow some melatonin, and watch some TV. Because of my early morning schedule, I don't usually get to watch late night TV. I see that some things have changed.

I put on Fox network, where they were re-running the network news. After the news, a commercial came on that really surprised me. It was for one of those telephone chat line things that I thought died with the advent of the Internet chatroom. This ad didn't feature women in lingerie - no, it featured a decent looking guy in his 30s. He rushes home and checks his voicemail to see what messages have been left from the guys at the Interactive Male. That's right, Interactive Male. Then the picture changes to show all the different good looking men who use the telephone chatroom to "get to know other guys in the area".

Generally, these ads just annoy me with their tackiness. "Ahhhhhh" says the surgically enhanced 32 F bleach blond. "I'm so hottttttt. Why don't you call me?" This one was actually pretty tasteful, and it was for a GAY dating service. On network TV. On FOX of all places. How amazingly enlightened!

But then, the best part. After this commercial, and then a commercial for the skanky Lover's Lane, a show came on - The Bible Hour.

So the Bible Hour has a gay chatline as a sponsor? I don't know which denomination this particular Bible show represented, but they're pretty damned progressive.

I thought about watching the Bible show for a bit to see how excitingly biblical it all was, but I'm afraid that even I am not that progressive.

And thus the Lord spake and sayeth He, "be not hypocritical whence it comes to advertising revenue."

Maybe during "The Bible," Job calls up Noah for a drink.
