I know that towns are allowed to make rules about certain things to keep law and order, as well as to keep the township looking tidy, but I really think this suburb has gone WAY too far:

Trustees leave door open on town home garage rule

Published November 30, 2003

LIBERTYVILLE -- Libertyville officials are sticking with an ordinance that says garage doors on new town homes can't face the street, but they've decided to provide some wiggle room for home builders.

The board agreed to the new garage-door requirement back in August but recently decided to consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

Despite the change, the intent of the original ordinance still stands, supporters insist.

Said Trustee Jeffrey Harger: "It'd just look nicer if people's dirty garage doors weren't facing the street."

This seems to me like a township with way too much time and money on their hands. I mean, won't it ruin the look of the front yard if all these houses have to re-route the driveway to the side of the house so folks can park their cars?
