I was watching TV last night, and there was an ad for the new Kia sedan that kept playing over and over again. In the ad, this guy shows up at work in this sedan, and a co-worker asks him if he's gotten a raise. Someone in the elevator overhears the conversation and passes on that the guy got a big raise. The recipient of that misinformation passes on that the guy made VP, and the exaggerations go on from there, until the CEO warns the guy to "watch his back". The tagline of the ad is something along the lines of "Buy this sleek, expensive looking car. People will think you are rich." Sticker price of this care is $16k.

By the 4th time I'd seen the ad, I realized that even if I'd gotten a big raise this year, I still couldn't afford to by that car.
