Good lord I'm a spoiled old coot. Privilaged as I am to go on vacation, I can't enjoy it. I am so used to living alone that I can't handle four days in a small one bedroom condo with four other people. There is never a second alone, not even in the bathroom, because without fail, someone has to talk to me when I'm in there. Even know, I am in the kitchen, and my grandmother (bless her) is yelling for me to come watch some damned cooking show because they are making some vegetarian dish, but I am playing deaf. I am also ignoring my adorable little neffie who is trying to get me to play Buzz Lightyear with him. Individually, these people make my day, but put them together and I get the spilkies (and begin peppering my sentences with Yiddish, apparently.)

The worst news of the day (besides the actual news and things that actually matter to the rest of the world) is that there will be no beach. I have been outvoted, three to one. Since we paid for pool passes, we have to continue going to the pool. Normally I would break out and do my own thing, but that is not only unfriendly but impossible. My name isn't on the rental car, and we are 20 miles from the beach. I don't even have a bike here anymore.

Originally, I decided to deal with the fact that I was going to be bored to tears here by keeping busy, cooking and freezing stuff for my grandmother so she can have more variety in her diet and not have to work so much. Weeeellll, since I'm on vacation, I can't do that either, since I'm supposed to be having a good time. (Direct quote sorta).

And now, to the one thing that keeps all our hearts beating, the FRIDAY FIVE!

1. Where are you right now? Sitting in my grandmother's kitchen in Southern Florida.

2. What have you lost recently? Several hours of sleep, my patience, and I fear, my temper.

3. What was the first CD you ever purchased? Does that embarrass you now? Domino - by Squeeze. Although it is far from my favorite CD, I am not embarrassed by owning it, and I have listened to it in the past year. It isn't the first CD I ever had though. The first CD I owned was a gift and it was Edit Piaf, Beste Hits.

4. What is your favorite kind of writing pen? . The Mont Blanc I borrow from my boss when he isn't looking.

5. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Peanut Butter Cup made by Turkey Hill. I can't seem to get that outside of New Jersey though, so my brother knows to have some in his freezer when I come to visit. A very close second is ANYTHING made by Carvel. I am getting my yearly Carvel fix tonight. That just may be the highlight of my day. Sad, ain't it?
