Hola de Mexico

Hello faithful reader. I am writing to you from sunny Mexico. I was going to take advantage of all the upside down punctuation marks on the Mexican keyboard here, but the question mark and the exclamation point on the keyboard I'm using are missing. When I say missing, I of course mean STOLEN. Ahhh Mexico.

Anyhow, as they say in the postcards, "Having a good time, wishing you were here." Well, at least I wish Flipsy was here. She's fluent in Español. I only dabble in it. This morning, when I went to buy Estampas, which are stamps, I ended up asking for one of those medalians with the Mary stamped in them.. una Stampa.... I mean, sure, I eventually got the stamps, but I made the post office lady laaaaaaaaaaaaaff. If you are expecting a postcard from me, it was sent today. If it never gets to you, I am very sorry. But I sent it. Today.

Also, don't speak Portuguese to Mexicans. They think that is funny too.

So basically, I'm here to make folks laugh and get a suntan. So far, I'm succeeding in both.

Hasta Pronto (insert exclamation point here).

estampillas (es-tahm-PEE-yas) = stamps. Nice try though! An honest mistake.

Que te diviertas una cantidad!
(kay tay dee-vee-air-tahs una kahn-tee-dahd) = have a great time!

Ha! I did a lot of that last summer -- when we got to Brazil, I kept thanking everyone in Spanish (Gracias!) and using other Spanish words. I finally get the hang of Portugeuse (Obrigado!) and we head to Argentina and Chile. So I was always one language back. As a final indiginity, just as I'm back in Espanol mode, we spend a whole bunch of time wandering around the airport in Sao Paolo. Obrigracias!
