Menu Advice

So I've been invited to a BBQ this weekend, and the deal is, our hosts don't want us to feel like we need to bring anything. They've just moved up to the far away outer galaxy somewhere in the 'burbs, and they want to feed us for our trouble.

Now, I can't imagine going to a BBQ and not bringing anything. But the hostess tells me she's got all the basics down already, right down to the veggie burgers. I'm thinking a tray of baclava and some good beer might be some good options. Anyone have any suggestions?

A variety of interesting microbrewed beers would be a fun idea.

Cupcakes!

(that was partly a suggestion and partly a term of endearment)

Is it good baklava? Not much better than good baklava. That being said, if the picnic is outside, the baklava might attract too many wee beasties that will get stuck on the baklava. And you're a vegetarian and all.

Aw hell. Go for it anyway. I've been trying to explain to someone on his way back from Kansas where he has to stop on the way home to get the good stuff. He's not as keen on this adventure as I am, strangely. He wants to get home to his wife. I told him his wife, who will be ecstatic to see him, will be even more pleased if he turns up with some tins of this stuff. And the office will REALLY love him.
