The Apprentice II, Episode 11
Welcome to another edition of The Apprentice II Recaps. It's the 11th week, and the promos are promising the "Most Explosive Boardroom - EVER!" If it's anything like the "Most Controversial Boardroom - EVER!" then I wouldn't get my panties in a twist, if you know what I mean.
As Trump said, "Eight Candidates are left. Who will be fired this week?"
As always, the show starts off with the gang in the suite pondering who would be fired. Nobody seemed surprised that it was Chris. Ivana talks about how Chris fell under Jenn's "Fembot Spell" as she squeezed her non-existent breasts together.
Anyhow, the next morning, the call comes that they are to meet Trump at the Levi's showroom at 9 am. I wonder who the corporate sponsor is this week? Kevin is Apex's Project Manager, and Wes is Mosaic's To even out the team, Mosaic has to pick someone to go over to Apex. Kelley is chosen. The task is to develop in-store promotional catalogues and present them to Robert Hansen, President of Levi Strauss. Whoever develops the most innovative catalogue, as chosen by Mr. Hansen wins. Apprentice Bill Rancic is replacing George this week.
Kevin feels good about being PM and having Kelley on the team. Apex gets to work right away. Ivana comes up with a jean selector wheel, rather than a traditional catalogue. Jenn has trouble understanding the concept
Mosaic gives themselves a pep talk about how great they are. Maria decides she has the best practical experience, and wants to "take the group outside the box" Sandy thinks Maria is full of shit.
Never Lose Your Cool is Trump's warm fuzzy message of the day. "Don't lose your cool, unless it is an act to get your employees to work harder or to make your opponent worry."
Apex decides to model the jeans themselves, you know, because they are real people. Kevin wants to have a campaign about being diverse and being real people. Ivana talks about how they focused on the ass of the jeans. Kelly is way into Jenn in her outfit. She looks like a real model. Work it!
Mosaic use models, Wes was directing the photo shoot until Maria comes in and starts bossing everyone around, "I need for her bra not to show," she said about one of the models. She starts directing the shoots, saying really good things like, "We need as much butt attitude as possible, people!" This really pisses Wes off. Andy tries to cool Maria off, but to no avail. Andy tries to get Wes to stop Maria, but she was NOT to be stopped.
Maria starts talking to the graphic designer, being a total control freak, not letting anyone see the design. Andy blames Maria for letting the situation out of hand. Maria finds Sandy unprofessional for calling her a control freak. The girls fight, but make up somehow, Maria in tears.
Apex is in love with how the designer made the jeans wheel. The fit wheel goes into a denim pocket with the Levi's slogan on it, "the perfect fit," This is a really good idea. Kevin feels Jenn is pretty useless, she doesn't understand the concepts. Kevin gives her busy work to keep her out of everyone's hair. Jenn knows that she's been given busy work, and hates it. She knows Ivana wants her fired.
Mosaic presents first. "What kind of story would the jeans tell about the people wearing them," Wes begins. The catalogue tells the story of jeans, and that Levi's has been around for a long time. Maria dominates the presentation, and says some pretty whacked stuff. The director notices that the whole team was not in jeans, and he is not particularly appreciative of that.
Apex comes in, dressed in jeans! Levi's T-shirts! Kevin comes on like gangbusters, sweating and fired up. Ivana takes over for him and does a great job, and I say this, even though I hate her. Jennifer steps up to bat and answers a question that should have gone to Ivana: "How did you come up with the idea for the wheel?" By doing this, she effectively claims Ivana's idea as her own.
Mosaic gets smacked because their presentation is untruthful and stupid, and Apex wins. Jenn gets picked as the best worker by Robert! Boy does that piss Ivana off, and for once I agree with her. The prize this week is to go spend time with Billy Joel live and privately.
Billy Joel gives Mosaic a tour of the theater showing the musical Twyla Tharp made about his music called, Moving Out. He sings some songs for them and wished them all luck. He tells them to be brave and take risks.
Meanwhile, Apex is back in the suite. Maria runs at the mouth about Wes, and how he has no leadership abilities. Wes, naturally, thinks that Maria should be fired, because she can't work in a team environment.
It is funny to see Bill in the boardroom on the other side of the table, looking all stern.
Trump first starts with Maria, "Why didn't you show off the ass of these jeans?" Bill asks about the fighting, Sandy explained the story about Maria, calling Bill by his first name. Trump rips Sandy's head off, saying that Bill should be addressed as "Mr. Rancic." Maria attacks Wes, calling him a poor planner and poor leader. Trump turns on Andy for being so quiet. Andy really handles that issue well, and even Trump has to admit that. Wes brings the entire team back into the boardroom with him.
In private discussion, Caroline says that she thinks Wes is smart, but can't delegate. Bill agrees that Wes can't control his employees. Caroline rips on everyone, Andy for being so quiet, Sandy for being under utilized.
When everyone gets back in the room, Wes has to defend himself. "Why didn't you put Maria on the bench?" He thinks that it would have been irresponsible because of the time constraints placed on them. Maria is yelled at for being a bitch, Wes, for being ineffective, He fires Maria, and then turns around and fires Wes as well! Explosive? Well, no, this wasn't an explosive boardroom. But it was a surprise, a very pleasant one. Now please fire Ivana!

See, I don't get the dogging on Sandy for calling Bill "Bill". They Carolyn and George by their first names. I think he had nothing else to pick on Sandy about. But Carolyn's getting to be a real bitch now, isn't she? It pains me to say it, but she is.
It's funny. I don't watch The Apprentice, have no desire to EVER watch The Apprentice, and don't care who wins The Apprentice. But I really like reading your reviews of it.

My favorite line of the night was in the exit interview in the cab when Wes snipes "At least they could have given me my own cab".
Precious.

Why do you despise Ivana? She and Andy are my favorites.
