It is Saturday and I am hot. I am tired. I am braindead. Today I finished my ESL class, and I got my certificate, a very nice certificate it is too. Unfortunately, it only certifies that I took a 12-hour class by an uncertified teacher from an non-accredited facility, but hey, it was fun, I learned a lot, and it kept me off the streets.

Class took place in a church - in a dilapidated, unairconditioned, moldy church. It was six hours of class today, and by hour four I thought I was going to die. I also developed a huge crush on one of the other tutors from another facility. But alas, it is really hard to be charming and flirty when one is bathed in sweat. Besides, I just don't do that sort of thing anymore. But he is a cutie -you'd have probably had a crush on him too.

So here I sit in my airconditioned bedroom, wondering what I am going to do with the rest of my day. If I could move, I suppose I'd go to the movies, my favorite hot day hangout. (oh, no pun intended by the way). Joe invited me over to rent videos and sit around sipping smoothies in his airconditioned studio, but somehow the long walk there or the alternately smelly bus ride doesn't appeal. And my bike? The repair shop is closed today due to "family issues" the sign said. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get it back. I have been having dreams about the hotrod it must have become in the last week.

It got a new seat - the one on there was over 30 years old. I also got it new pedals, had the gearshift repaired AND had the handles raised. Now, before you say anything, I did try to do the handle lifting myself, but I couldn't loosen the bolt. I think the last time it was loosened was when my father lowered them for me at 12, when I got the bike as a hand-me-down from my sister. So it must be pretty rusty in there, and besides, my father was a strong guy.

I am trying to listen to Prairie Home Companion right now, but I can't hear it over the a/c. It must be a good one though, because I keep hearing a lot of applause.

And now is the time in Sprockets, where we nap.
