Chicago Tribune | Spring Forward for Daylight-Saving Time
Chicago Tribune | Spring Forward for Daylight-Saving Time: "President Bush has signed a law changing the dates of daylight-saving time, effective in 2007. Then, daylight time will start three weeks earlier, March 11, and will end one week later, Nov. 4. "
So can anyone explain to me why he's done this? Why do we need to change daylight-saving? Do we even still need it in the first place?
I spent yesterday completely without media - no newspaper, no TV, no radio, and forgot that we had to push the clocks back up. Imagine my surprise when the VCR and the laptop had a different time than all the other clocks in the house? This must be why clock-changing-day is always between Saturday and Sunday, and not say, between Sunday and Monday. I would have had a nifty excuse for being late for work! (As would 260 million other people).

I don't think we need Daylight Savings anymore. I agree with you, if you're going to change the day we change the clocks, why not get rid of the practice altogether? That article doesn't offer much insight, does it? California has been talking about dumping Daylight Savings for a while now. I hope we do.
I forgot about it also, and had the same confusion when I got up.
Because he figures we can get pissed at "spring forward" and that last 3-foot snowstorm all at the same time.
I second or third getting rid of daylight savings time. When was the last time we (legally) allowed kids to work in the field or anyone actually saw a schoolkid WALK to the bustop, and not get driven in the car and stay inside until the bus comes?
You know, I'm going to be the world's worst mommy. I'm gonna make my kids hike their sorry cold butts up to the bus stop and wait there until the bus comes, while standing inside in my bathrobe and wave at the bus, just like dear old Mom.
we changed over last week which caused some massive confusion on scheduling meetings, for sure.
fdwwwwx!
I love these word verification things.
