I'm not usually one to fawn over commercials. They are devious attempts to get you to spend money. However, there is ONE commercial I can't get enough of. It is a commercial for Zyrtek - an allergy medication. It is the one where a guy is talking about how he fell in love with a cat lover, and he's allergic to cats, so he takes the Zyrtek.

The rest of the commercial features a really gorgeous cat, who does the "cat thing" by insinuating himself into every situation. The couple is playing a board game, kitty walks up and sits on the board. Guy is reading the paper, he puts himself between the guy and the paper. There is a super shot, where the couple is doing work in the garden, and the cats back is seen in the lower left screen as he watches them laboring.

This commercial, for me, is so much more about the cat, and the nature of cats, and less about the zyrtek.

Or is it?

After seeing the commercial a few times, I find myself wishing I could have a cat. But I can't have one, you see, because I am very allergic to them. See where I'm going here? Well, the commercial backfires on me, because I tried Zyrtek about a year ago, and it does nothing for me.

Take that, advertising moguls!
