AAAA Chooooooo!

Autmn is my favorite time of year. I love the crisp, cleanish air, the cooler, but not yet cold temperatures, the red and yellow leaves, fall fruit, and blankets on the bed.

Unfortunately, autumn hates my body. You see, when things get wet and die, they create a lot off mold. I am allergic to mold. This must be a particularly good year for the mold, because my allergies have been at their worst. The coughing and sneezing, the headaches -- all that I have endured for years and years. But now, I have the added bonus of a flakey, scaley rash all over my face, ears and head. It started to resemble crusty dandruff and was driving me crazy, so I finally went to the doctor.

She gave me some of those new-ish one a day antihistamines, and then, for my poor face and ears and head - she wrote out an Rx for DANDRUFF SHAMPOO. That's right. I have dandruff on my face. She gave it a very fancy name - excema. At first I thought my ears had gotten clogged up with my own skin flakes, but she was serious. She wants me to use this stuff on my face and in my ears.

Here's how it works. I get in the shower and wet my head and face. Then I lather up this really thin, pink stuff from the bottle, just a little bit, and then rub it on my face, IN my ears and scalp. According to the instructions, I am also supposed to let it SIT there for five minutes.

Now come on, have you ever had soap on your eyelids for more than a second or two, without sucumbing to the desire to wipe it off? And what does one DO with dandruff shampoo on one's face for five minutes while dripping wet in the shower? Keep in mind there is no eye opening going on here, because it clearly says on the bottle that you aren't supposed to get it in your eyes.

I just got finished trying it for the first time, and I doubt very much that five whole minutes went by before I washed it off. However, My hair IS very shiny and happy. Let's see how it likes being washed twice a day, because I am going to have to do that for two weeks. Wash my head and face with dandruff shampoo.

If my nasty, scaley face doesn't look better even by a little bit by the morning, I am going to start looking for the Candid Camera crew.
