Home Buying - The First Viewing
Michelle,
I've left messages with the listing agents for showings at these times:
Property 1 12:15
Property 2 12:45
As soon as I get confirmation I'll call or e-mail. I may not hear back from the agents till tomorrow but I'll let you know as soon as I hear. Thanks,
Dave
This is the message I got from my realtor last night. Unfortunately these times didn't work out as planned. I didn't get to see Property 1 until 5.30 tonight.
I met Dave at the Property, and he was cordial, but really, really lacking in personality. I mean, as cute as he was (and he was cute) he didn't even crack a smile. Not even once. But I guess you don't hire an agent for his smile. He wasn't rude or anything, so I''ll give him a chance.
The apartment was on the top floor of a four storey building - 12 units. From the beginning, my impressions weren't good. The vestibule was filthy - the hall stairs were oak, and not polished in years. We walked up the stairs, and I saw grafitti, nothing lewd or nasty, on the wall. There was some spackling going on, so at least it looks like some work is being done on the building. Unfortunately, the real estate agent for the seller had no idea what was going on.
The unit was cute - not perfect. Far from perfect actually. The bathroom was lavish - done in beautiful tile that covered the floor and the walls. The lighting was perfect and the room was large. The two bedrooms were also very large, 14x15. The lighting was so-so, ceiling fans. The closets were kind of small, but for that, there were several of them.
The kitchen was fabulous as well.. except the fridge wasn't in the best condition. New gas range The dining room was TINY and there is no living room. And the windows were old, old old. In fact, some were painted shut. The oak floors needed work, and oh yes - the fire escape is falling apart.
Scale from 1-10 with 1 being sucky and 10 being perfect: 3.
The next vewing may be Thursday. I'll know later in the week.
