Happy 2003 everyone!
It's hard to believe another year has come and gone. Although everything seems to have gone by so quickly, when I think of last year at this time, it seems like eons ago. This time last year I had just come back from 10 days in Austria, was entertaining my nephew and a few friends of mine for dinner and some bubbly, and looking forward to my trip to London on the 2nd.
All in all I am looking forward to 2003. I don't have any illusions that this will be MY YEAR - I don't want to put any pressures on it. However I do have quite a bit to look forward to:
1. This will be a Good Vacation year (meaning I'm going somewhere OUT of the country)
2. My bestest friend from gradschool just announced that he and the wife will become parents in July
3. I have a year behind me at work now, and people are starting to take me more seriously
4. I'm not planning on dying this year
5. My littlest cousin Jodie will be getting married in October
6. Geraldine and Peer will be getting married in July (ish)
7. Tina and Henning will be getting married in June
8. I will hopefully become a homeowner
9. Will attend the Wim Wenders film festival.
As I typed #4 I realized that I am kind of doing what I can to visualize all the good things, because I realize that while I don't plan to die this year, Drinky McDumbass and Mr. "We can take BOTH of 'em on" plan on killing LOTS of people this year. I can only hope that somehow, someway peace will prevail despite the many obstacles.
GEEZ! I am now feeling guilty about looking forward to the future. Thanks a LOT boys.
I hope to put all of that aside for the evening and enjoy going out and having a good time. Tonight it's champagne chez moi, followed by dinner at the Ethopian Diamond - complete with entertainment. If that doesn't take us through 'til midnight, then we'll be at Simons, drinkin' and a dancin' the night away.
And now, I'd like to leave you with the words of Donny and Marie -
May tomorrow be a perfect day,
May you find love and laughter along the way,
May god keep you in God's tender hands,
Til he brings us together again - GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY!
