Dubious Use of Technology
Today I noticed a sign at an automotive store advertising a device that would let you "Start Your car from up to ONE MILE Away!!"
Why would anyone want to do that?

Well, it would be convenient if you're a walker. Measure a mile, walk a mile, and have a started car waiting.
Or, if you're robbing a bank a mile away....
You really got me. The only advantage I can see is in a really cold climate in the middle of winter to get it warmed up so it's ready to move. However, in that situation there's no way I'm going to be a mile away from that car and have to walk there.
