Vacation Prep

In a week from tomorrow I'm off on a week-long romp through Italy with an old friend from Sbg. While I'm not sure I'll have much "down time" during this vacation, I will have a nine-hour flight each way, and I'm sure, more than a little jetlag.

I'm going to need something to read.

But looking around at all of the books I've got lying around unread, (and there are so many,)I just don't want to bring any of them with me to Italy, because they are unvacationly.

For example, books on time management or business communication strategy - these are work related, and I just don't want to bring any part of the office with me.

Other books are being left behind because they are in German. Not that I speak Italian or anything, but I don't want to introduce a third language into this. I get headaches when too many languages comingle.

I'm looking for something light and entertaining.Anyone have any suggestions?

The only books that I can think of that I've read the English from German translation are: The Perfume (better than the movie), by Patrick Süskind; and Demian, and Narcissus & Goldmund by Hermann Hesse. All were enjoyable reads.

I pimped this one on the Hucklebug this week, but here's one for ya -- The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger. Great book. I also highly recommend anything by David Sedaris.

I have been using my management books as sleep aids. They really are the dumbest things I have ever read.
