It seems like finally, FINALLY people are waking up. The protests are getting larger and the media can’t ignore us anymore. Yes, yes, this is happening too late, but thank goodness it is happening at all.
I live practically on the campus of one of the smaller universities in Chicago. It is the college-age people who make up the backbone of these protests, and the police know it. This morning, at my bus stop was a police officer – obviously armed and ready. He was alone, I think, but as the bus drove south, I could see that the police have made themselves more visible today. These guys were either brought up in dark, quiet caves, or have forgotten their youth. When I was at my peak protesting age, no amount of police force was going to shut me up. I was loud and proud and pissed off. The police presence made me both happy and more defiant.
People in all parts of the country are starting to wake up from their stupor and realize that all is not well. Blood is pumping through our bodies and our minds again. Support the armed forces? Hell yes! BRING THEM HOME ALIVE!!!
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Remember: there is nothing unpatriotic about disagreeing with the government. They are here to represent us. Being against the war does not mean being anti-military or anti-American. It means you are exercising your right to be heard. If the boys on top aren’t listening yell a little louder. If we cannot protest the actions of our government, if we are imprisoned for speaking our minds, for taking the streets or shouting negative epithets about the President, then this regime is a mere shadow of the nation fought for during the Revolutionary War.
